SSL Certificate And Web Security Services Agreement

Capitalised terms used in this document that are not defined herein shall have the meanings set forth in the Core Hosting Terms of Service.

Last revised: January 2026

Scope of Application

If the Service pertains to issuing of electronic certificates according to instructions provided by the Customer, the provisions in this section shall apply.

Core Hosting provides SSL/TLS certificate services and other web security solutions as a reseller of certificate authorities. Core Hosting acts as an intermediary between the Customer and the certificate authority.

Definitions

For the purposes of this section, the following terms apply:

  • Certificate — an electronic certificate issued by a third-party service provider ("Certifier"), the purpose of which is to confirm the identity of a web server operated by a Certificate User to enable encrypted communication between that web server and a web browser;
  • Certificate Order — an Order for the issuing of the Certificate;
  • Certificate User — the Customer or a third party identified in the Certificate;
  • Certifier — third-party certificate authority that issues the Certificate;
  • Rules — binding instructions, terms and conditions established by the Certifiers concerning the issuing and use of the Certificates.

Certificate Issuance

SSL/TLS certificates are issued by third-party certificate authorities upon successful validation of the Customer's domain ownership and, where applicable, organisation identity. Core Hosting is not responsible for delays or denials in certificate issuance resulting from validation failures or certificate authority policies.

Validation Requirements

The Customer must complete all validation procedures required by the certificate authority, which may include:

  • Domain validation via email, DNS, or HTTP file verification;
  • Organisation validation requiring business documentation;
  • Extended validation requiring comprehensive identity verification.

Failure to complete validation within the timeframe specified by the Certifier may result in cancellation of the Certificate Order. Core Hosting is not liable for certificate issuance failures caused by incomplete or inaccurate validation data submitted by the Customer.

Representations and Warranties

By placing a Certificate Order, the Customer represents and warrants that it has reviewed, understood, and accepted the applicable Rules and price lists.

By placing a Certificate Order on behalf of a third-party Certificate User, the Customer also represents and warrants that:

  • it acts with the full authorisation of the Certificate User;
  • the Certificate User has reviewed, understood and accepted the applicable Rules;
  • it and the Certificate User understand that Core Hosting has no control over the content of the Rules and that the Certifiers may change the Rules from time to time without prior notice;
  • in relationship with Core Hosting, the Customer remains liable for any eventual failure of the Certificate User to perform its obligations under the applicable Rules.

Certificate Installation

The Customer is responsible for installing and configuring SSL/TLS certificates on their server or hosting environment. Core Hosting may provide installation assistance as part of managed services where applicable.

Service Scope

Upon issuing of the Certificate, the rights and obligations regarding the use of that Certificate shall arise between the Certificate User and the Certifier.

The Service provided by Core Hosting is limited to accurately forwarding the data in the Certificate Order and any applicable fees to the Certifier, reminding the Customer of the forthcoming expiration of the Certificate, and providing the opportunity to renew the Certificate. The Customer authorises Core Hosting to represent the Certificate User upon entry into an agreement with the Certifier.

Core Hosting is not liable for any acts or omissions of any third parties, including the Certifier, including during their performance of the agreement between the Certificate User and the Certifier.

Certificate Renewals

SSL/TLS certificates are valid for a limited period (typically 1 year for standard certificates). The Customer is responsible for renewing certificates before expiration. Core Hosting will send renewal reminders, but failure to receive such reminders does not relieve the Customer of the obligation to renew.

Certificate Orders that have been placed but not yet generated (i.e. the certificate has not been issued) are subject to a shelf life of thirty (30) months from the date of purchase. Any Certificate Order remaining in an ungenerated state beyond this period shall be deactivated and will no longer be eligible for redemption or issuance. Core Hosting shall not be liable for any losses arising from the expiration of ungenerated Certificate Orders.

Certificate Revocation

Certificates may be revoked by the certificate authority if validation information is found to be incorrect, if private keys are compromised, or for other security reasons determined by the Certifier. Core Hosting is not liable for certificate revocations resulting from Customer actions or certificate authority policies.

Web Security Solutions

In addition to SSL/TLS certificates, Core Hosting may offer other web security solutions including but not limited to site seals, malware scanning, and vulnerability assessments. The specific features and limitations of each security solution are described in the applicable Service plan.

Refunds

Refunds for SSL/TLS certificate services are governed by the Core Hosting Refund Policy. A 30-day money-back guarantee applies provided the certificate has not been issued, or has been properly un-installed and revoked. Products purchased using cryptocurrencies are not eligible for a refund.

Termination

If the Customer fails to pay any fees applicable to the Certificate Order in full and in due time, or if the Customer or Certificate User fails to comply with the Rules, then Core Hosting may withdraw from or cancel the Service Agreement based on that Certificate Order without advance notice, especially if the Certifier has refused to issue the Certificate or voided an issued Certificate on the grounds of unpaid fees or noncompliance with the Rules.

Limitation of Liability

Core Hosting's liability for certificate services is limited to the fees paid for the relevant certificate. Core Hosting is not liable for any damages resulting from certificate issuance delays, validation failures, or security breaches attributable to the Certifier or to the Customer's failure to complete validation or renew certificates in time.
